To me, teaching sociology is the ultimate form of doing public sociology. I see my students as future global citizens who will leave my classroom, enter different parts of the world, and accomplish great things. I enter my classroom with a grave sense of responsibility that I am playing a role in shaping the future of our society. With this philosophy in mind, my courses have two overarching objectives:

  1. To apply sociological perspectives in their everyday lives and understand hidden inequalities in our society

  2. To recognize that inequalities manifest at multiple levels from personal to structural
